There is something about Varun Dhawan that you should actually like about. The guy always speaks from his heart, something that is very rare these days, and never thinks of the fact that how his direct dil se statements can cause ripples in media sometimes. Remember the time when he compared Dilwale with Inception? Now Varun finds himself in hot water again for something he expressed from his heart, because of his contract obligations. Want to know what happened this time?
Varun Dhawan has been the brand ‘happiness’ ambassador for Sony Sab TV, and the channel’s owners are quite annoyed with him for one of his recent tweets, as per a report in Mid-Day. Apparently, the bone of contention between them was Remo D’Souza’s show Dance Plus Season 3. Recently Shah Rukh Khan had been on the show to promote his upcoming movie Jab Harry Met Sejal. As you know Remo D’Souza, the popular choreographer and director, is the judge on the show, and they had some interesting tidbits to share on the show. Varun loved that episode, and since he also worked with Remo in latter’s ABCD 2, he expressed his feelings with his tweet, ‘Dance Plus definitely has the best live dance acts on TV. Superb.’ This is where the trouble started.
Since Dance Plus is a show on Star, which is a rival to Sony, the latter had not taken it lightly that their ambassador has been praising the show of their rival channel. Within an hour, the star had to delete the tweet, which suggested that the PR team for SAB might have told him to do the same.
A source close this development said this to Mid-Day about the incident, “It was a clear case of clash of interests. Varun did it with honest intentions, without thinking of the consequences. But it didn’t go down well with Sony.”
Well, if you are being paid a huge amount to be under a contract for a channel, FOE can go take a hike!
