We are back with another segment of Trending Tunes. If you are surprised why Din Shagna Da made it to this list, well, there is a pretty legit reason. Also, Ban Ja Rani refuses to budge from its top position on iTunes and we are not complaining. We have a brand new song on the list to spice things up. So, without any delay, let us get straight to the game. Here are our picks for the best songs from the last week.
Din Shagna Da – Phillauri
Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli got married. The song that was played as Anushka walked down the aisle to the mandap was Din Shagna Da. Singer Jasleen Royal is extremely happy with the sudden re-popularity, as she has seen this song go viral already in 2013. This ditty was also used in Anushka Sharma’s film Phillauri and had gone relatively unnoticed at the time of release. But upon coming across the song in the viral video from Anushka’s wedding, the popularity of the song spread like wildfire. The comments section on YouTube is flooding with compliments that have been made by listeners over the last one week.
Swag Se Swagat – Tiger Zinda Hai
Swag Se Swagat has broken another record. It has become the Indian music video to clock in the fastest 100 million views. Certainly, a time to rejoice for Vishal and Shekhar. The listeners are loving this song and you sure can hear it play at parties and clubs. The way Katrina Kaif sways in the song will make you watch the video multiple times. Salman Khan’s swag is on point – as if there is any other way we know him.
Ban Ja Rani – Tumhari Sulu
The lovely, mellow ditty is still ruling the hearts and charts. The power of music is strong with this one. It has been weeks since Tumhari Sulu released, but this number is still a favourite. It is running on number 1 on iTunes and number 2 on Saavn. Guru Randhawa, take a bow!
Sunn Le Zara – 1921
The haunting melody is currently trending on YouTube. This might be the song that puts Arnab Dutta on the map. Shakeel Azmi’s lyrics go well with the texture of Arnab’s voice. Zareen Khan looks elegantly beautiful throughout the music video. Spoiler alert…but watch out for the jumpscare at the end of the song.
Ek Dil Ek Jaan – Padmavati
The romantic number from Padmavati shows us the romance between Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor’s characters. They hardly even touch each other in this romantic ballad, but it is their eyes that do all the talking for them. The two actors have perfectly managed to capture the intensity of the scenes assigned to them. All-rounder, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has done a great job with composition.
