• Chiefs keep their European Champions Cup quarter-final hopes alive after an impressive victory
It has not been a vintage European season for the Premiership clubs but English pride is not yet entirely extinguished. This convincing six-try thrashing of the current French league leaders has certainly breathed fresh life into Exeter’s prospects in Pool 3 and the revitalised Chiefs do not have the look of a team who have given up on quarter-final participation.
Everything will now depend on beating Glasgow in the final pool round with the try bonus point they earned on a cool Devon evening having also boosted their prospects. Aside from their back-to-back defeats to the pool leaders Leinster this has otherwise been a productive campaign for the English champions and, even without the injured Jack Nowell, they reduced their visitors to a wheezing pulp.
